Play Therapy with Children and Families Encountering High Conflict Divorce

Description:

This presentation will address the occurrence of children presenting for play therapy as the result of their parents being involved in a high-conflict divorce. The workshop goal is to equip the play therapy professional with basic knowledge of the legal divorce process, as well as the knowledge to remain neutral in the process of helping the children and their families heal.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify how to remain neutral and child focused in a high conflict divorce situation
  • Identify common presenting concerns/ issues with play therapy clients
  • Work with the highly conflicted parents to establish support for the children
  • Identify what is needed to protect the play therapy relationship from the conflictual legal system

  • Please park at the back of the lot to allow Stacy’s customers convenient parking
  • Walk straight to the back on the first floor to the elevators
  • Take the elevator to the 3rd floor

The North Texas Chapter of The Texas Association for Play Therapy meets annually from August-May. Meetings are offered most months and consist of membership updates, networking opportunities, and presentations about a variety of play therapy topics.
